Our Story
After a 16-year career as a professor, Dr. Kelly decided to return to the practice of psychology in 2022 and launched ScienceWorks Behavioral Healthcare. Her decision to offer specialized services for folks with OCD and co-occuring conditions and neurotypes was inspired by both her training and her experience parenting an autistic, LGBTQ+ kid with OCD. Dr. Kelly's post-doctoral NIH fellowship focused on the role of motivation in executive functioning in ADHD. Her clinical training in graduate school emphasized exposure response prevention (ERP) for the treatment of OCD and the administration of neuropsychological assessments, including assessments for general mental health, ADHD, and autism.
In recent years, Dr. Kelly's training and ongoing consultation has helped her develop skills in the delivery of modern, gentler OCD therapies, including Inference-based CBT and infusing ERP with ACT. She has also sought consultation from experts in the delivery of neurodiversity affirming ADHD and autism assessments that are designed to capture previously undiagnosed cases in adults, especially women and non-binary folks. Because OCD rarely occurs in isolation, she has also sought training and consultation in therapies for conditions that frequently co-occcur, including CBT-I for insomnia and EMDR for trauma/PTSD.
ScienceWorks is a growing, hand-selected team of individuals with the personal experience and specialized training to provide effective, affirming, gentle care for folks with OCD and co-occurring conditions and neurotypes.
