Hello! I know from personal experience how much harder everything is when you have anxiety, fear, doubt, worries, and compulsions. Even though these are treatable, it can be hard to ask for help. Getting by while life passes you by is the path of least resistance, but it also results in ongoing pain, exhaustion, and lost time. When you’re ready, we’re here to help. Imagine how great you’ll feel and what you’ll be able to do when anxiety isn’t keeping you down. Helping people experience relief and fulfillment is the best part about my job.

My partner and I designed ScienceWorks to offer behavioral healthcare that is guided by three tenants:


  • Evidence-based therapies work.

ScienceWorks Behavioral Healthcare defines itself by its strong, ethical commitment to providing therapies that have been demonstrated through research to be effective. While we use a variety of evidenced-based approaches, across all of these we employ measurement-based care (MBC). This means that we measure your symptoms throughout therapy to customize your treatment plan, monitor changes across time, and adjust strategies accordingly in order to maximize your outcomes. ScienceWorks has developed tools to allow us to confidentially collect and chart your data. Our therapists use these between sessions to track how you’re doing and make sure we're prepared with the best information and strategies to meet your evolving wants and needs. We also collaborate on action plans that can be used outside of therapy, so you can apply what you learn in the real world and build lifelong skills. Therapy has costs. It requires clients to put themselves in vulnerable positions during times in their lives when they are already compromised. ScienceWorks is committed to offering services that have previously been shown to work as effectively and efficiently as possible. 


  • Physical and mental health are interconnected.

In addition to evidence-based talk therapies, research shows that some of the most effective treatments for anxiety and depression focus on the interconnection between the physical body and mental health, or the mind-body connection. ScienceWorks is designed to provide clients with the option to augment their therapy by integrating these additional approaches. When appropriate and with your permission, ScienceWorks will collaborate with your primary care physician or other medical provider so that the person managing your medication benefits from receiving information on your symptom changes over the course of treatment. Also with permission from both you and your physician, we can provide walking, yoga, or other exercise-based programs. Finally, mindfulness and meditation practices are frequently incorporated into therapy sessions and action plans, and we help connect you with resources to support this.

Understanding and honoring the social and cultural context that make your life experience unique is critical to the formation of an effective therapeutic alliance. ScienceWorks recognizes that racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of oppression can degrade health. It is critical to the therapeutic process that clients feel safe opening up about these and other lived experiences with their therapist. Research suggests that therapy can be successful even when the race of the therapist and client don’t match. No two people share the same experiences and perspectives after all. However, the effectiveness of therapy is enhanced when therapists provide care that prioritizes understanding, respecting, and validating clients’ backgrounds, beliefs, and values. ScienceWorks Behavioral Healthcare affirms gender, sexuality, and cultural identity. We recognize that cultural competence is an unending process and continually work to better understand the complex lived experiences of our clients.
