Couples

Specialized Coaching

For Couples with Differing Neurotypes

For couples with differing neurological profiles (either neurotypical + neurodivergent or neurodivergent + neurodivergent), even the strongest relationships can suffer from the undercurrent of these differences. Mismatched communication styles, task management, and organizational systems can complicate otherwise simple activities of daily life and add unnecessary stress. Your normal emotions and behaviors can be negatively misinterpreted by your partner, and vice-versa, resulting in conflicts that seem to come out of nowhere with no identifiable source - and no clear solution.

You and your partner love each other; you genuinely care for one another - but the repeated cycles of ambiguous conflict can become bewildering because root causes and corrective action are elusive. Over time, this can lead to disconnection and resentment that neither of you want.

Executive Function Coaching helps couples understand themselves better as individuals and as partners. This understanding serves as the foundation for compassionate skill-building to strengthen your relationship. You and your partner can feel confident, seen, and supported in both daily tasks and your long-term journey together.

For couples, we'll conduct an initial interview to understand your needs. Then build a customized coaching plan that meets you where are and takes you to where you want to go - together.

In coaching, we'll focus on several key areas:

Understanding Individual Differences

Recognize how you and your partner process information, prioritize tasks, and manage time. Rarely is anyone being "lazy" or "inconsiderate"; these are common misperceptions that result from a misunderstanding of how your individual brains work differently, and are a frequent cause of unnecessary conflict. With structured understanding, you'll be able to establish a healthy environment that supports effective collaboration.

Communication Strategies

Effective communication without fear or judgement is a cornerstone of the coaching process. When communicating with a partner, it's very common to process their words and body language through your personal lens to reach a conclusion about their intentions. For neurotypical couples, this approach is far from foolproof, but can work well enough.

For neurodivergent couples, however, these thought processes are highly individualized. In this case, inferences and assumptions that you make about your partner's communication based on your own processes can differ significantly from your partner's intended meaning. The same goes for a partner trying to make inferences and assumptions about your communication to them.

The fog of mismatched communication can result in stress, doubt, and negative emotions, with both partners feeling unable to be seen or contribute as their authentic selves. Coaching lifts this fog with individualized approaches for structured communication without assumptions or masking. You and your partner will be empowered to make requests, set boundaries, and share ideas with confidence that your true meaning and authenticity will shine through.

Complimentary Systems

For couples with differing neurotypes, it can be common for one partner to become a "manager". This often happens organically as different processing styles collide throughout daily life, with one partner's style floating to the top out of habit rather than intention. This results in an ambiguous and unequal power dynamic that leaves both partners feeling misunderstood and burnt out from inefficiency.

In coaching, we'll identify your individual strengths and establish clearly defined responsibilities which emphasize those strengths. With this clarity, you and your partner can achieve the satisfaction equal contribution while mutually benefiting from an environment of collaboration rather than chaos.

Sustainable Routines

Routines are where the structures of coaching intersect with the real world. We'll combine your Understanding of Individual Differences, Communication Strategies, and Complimentary Systems to build clear strategies that benefit you and your partner every day - and into the future.

By using routines that honor both your individuality and your partnership, you and your partner can work together - implementing combined skills to overcome obstacles, achieve your goals, and strengthen your relationship.

Learn to thrive together.

Parent Coaching

Specialized Coaching

For Neurodivergent Parents and
Neurotypical Parents with Neurodivergent Children

You're doing your best as the parent of a child with ADHD, Autism, or AuDHD - but it's hard. Tasks like managing meltdowns, fostering communication, or creating seemingly basic routines often leave you feeling frustrated or exhausted. Your attention is spread too thin and you can't focus on other siblings, your spouse, or even yourself with the energy that everyone deserves - straining relationships. You may even feel guilty for not being able to create the calm, nurturing environment that you desperately want for you and your family.

These difficulties don't arise from a lack of love or effort.

They arise from a lack of knowledge - and we can fix that.

You are not alone. At ScienceWorks, we work every day to help parents and families understand and embrace their individual differences to create structure and harmony.

If you are neurotypical, raising a neurodivergent child with the behaviors and strategies that work for you can feel like fitting a square peg to a round hole.

If you are ADHD, Autistic, or AuDHD yourself, balancing your own needs while parenting can feel like an impossible challenge.

With Parent Coaching, we'll adapt our dynamic coaching process to address the combined needs of you, your child, and your family. You will learn to understand your child's unique brain and way of interacting with the world while developing your own skills to create a thriving family environment without burnout.

If your child is receiving therapy with us, we'll expand your parent coaching plan to coordinate closely with their therapist - understanding the practical implications of their treatment to develop real-world strategies that support their progress.

Take the next step to gain clarity, build stronger connections and restore your well-being.
