Trauma is a brain-response, not an event. We can experience trauma in response to medical services, therapists, and relationships. Undiagnosed ADHD or autism or family rejection/neglect can result in trauma.
Working with medical or talk therapy providers can traumatizing. We use somatic work, mindfulness, emotions-focused work, CBT, ACT & more. We can also support you in living with chronic illness and/or disability.
EMDR
Dr. Kelly is Basic Trained in EMDR, has received advanced trainings in attachment-focused EMDR and the Flash technique, and participates in consultation. EMDR is effective and requires little talking.
Undiagnosed
Autism or ADHD
Being misunderstood by neurotypical family members, peers, or employers can be traumatizing, especially when ADHD or autism are undiagnosed. An assessment and diagnosis can be an important first step. We can then offer neuroaffirming therapy.
Trauma with OCD
More than half of people with OCD are believed to have some form of trauma. Dr. Kelly is trained in the use of I-CBT and EMDR to gently make progress toward healing and recovery when both OCD and trauma are present.

"Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced."
