HOW COACHING WORKS
What executive function coaching is, and how it helps
Executive function is the brain's management system — planning, prioritizing, starting tasks, managing time, and following through. For many neurodivergent people, especially with ADHD, these skills don't come automatically, no matter how hard you try or how much you care.
Coaching is different from therapy: it's practical, forward-looking, and built around action. Together with your coach, you design systems that fit how your brain actually works — externalizing reminders, breaking tasks down, building routines, and removing friction from the things you keep avoiding. Between sessions, your coach provides structure and accountability so the strategies stick. The goal isn't to work harder; it's to work with your wiring instead of against it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common questions
Is coaching online or in person?
ScienceWorks provides executive function coaching by secure telehealth to clients across Tennessee, and in person at our Nashville office if you prefer. Most meet online from home, work, or school, which makes it easier to keep the routines we build; in-person in Nashville is available too.
Is coaching the same as ADHD therapy?
No. Coaching is practical and skills-focused — it builds executive-function systems and accountability, not clinical treatment. If you're also dealing with anxiety or depression, we can talk through whether therapy or an evaluation would help alongside coaching.
Do I need an ADHD diagnosis to start coaching?
No. You don't need a formal diagnosis to benefit from coaching — many clients are self-identified or still exploring. We review fees and scheduling up front, and many clients use FSA or HSA funds toward coaching.
