Who we are

ScienceWorks Behavioral Healthcare is a psychologist-led practice based in Nashville, Tennessee. We specialize in ADHD, autism and the conditions that often come with them, like OCD, anxiety, depression, trauma and insomnia. We offer psychological assessments, therapy and executive function coaching, and they're designed to work together, so what you learn in an assessment carries straight into your care.

The practice was founded in 2023 by Dr. Kiesa Kelly, a clinical psychologist trained in neuropsychology. Before ScienceWorks, Dr. Kelly spent 16 years as a psychology professor and department chair, and she has more than 20 years of experience with psychological assessment. Her NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship focused on ADHD. She works alongside an experienced team of licensed psychologists and therapists, plus an executive function coach, chosen for their specialized training and, often, their own lived experience of neurodivergence.

We're neurodiversity-affirming, anti-racist and LGBTQ+ affirming. We adapt our care to you, rather than asking you to fit a standard that was never built for you.

Psychological assessments

Assessments are for teens (ages 12 to 17) and adults. We assess for ADHD, autism, and both together (AuDHD), plus custom assessments for a range of other conditions. We pay particular attention to people who've been missed before, including high-masking women and working professionals of all genders.

Every ADHD, autism and AuDHD assessment is completed by Dr. Kelly herself. Other diagnostic assessments are completed by Dr. Kelly or another licensed psychologist on our team.

All assessments happen by secure telehealth, so you can take part from home. Here's how it works:

  • Free phone consultation. We talk through what you're noticing and build a plan that fits your questions and your budget.
  • Onboarding and questionnaires. You complete scientifically validated screeners in our app, on your own schedule.
  • Clinical interview. A conversation about your overall mental health, followed by a set of diagnostic measures chosen for you.
  • Diagnostic interview. A structured interview built around your results, using leading instruments such as the DIVA-5 for ADHD and the MIGDAS-2 for autism.
  • Feedback session. We walk you through your results and talk about next steps.

Depending on the assessment, you can add documentation, such as a diagnostic letter, a full written report or an accommodation letter for work or school, and cognitive or IQ testing. You only pay for the steps you need.

Therapy

Our therapists specialize in ADHD, autism, OCD, anxiety, depression, trauma, insomnia, chronic illness and substance use, and we also work with couples, families and parents. These conditions often show up together, which is exactly why we focus on them.

We use evidence-based approaches matched to what you're working on, including Inference-based CBT (I-CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD, EMDR and cognitive processing therapy for trauma, CBT for insomnia (CBT-I), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), the Gottman Method for couples, and parent management training.

Therapy is measurement-based: we set clear goals, track your progress with self-reported measures, and adjust the plan as we go. You can see us by secure telehealth, or in person at our Nashville office. Outside Tennessee, therapy is with the psychologists on our team who are authorized to see clients across state lines.

Executive function coaching

Coaching helps with the practical side of ADHD, autism and AuDHD: getting started on tasks, managing time, building systems so you don't have to hold everything in your head, and heading off overwhelm. Therapy helps you process and heal; coaching helps you build and put things into practice.

We offer coaching for adults, couples and parents, on its own or alongside therapy. Coaching is virtual, available wherever you are, worldwide.

Where we see clients

We work by telehealth for convenience and accessibility. Therapy and assessments are available in the following states (coaching is available worldwide):

AL, AZ, AR, CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, ID, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, ME, MD, MI, MN, MS, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WV, WI, WY

If you'd rather meet in person, therapy is also available at our office at 2603 Elm Hill Pike, Suite C, Nashville, TN 37214.

What assessments cost

Prices depend on what you need, and you pay as you go. Here's where each assessment starts:

  • Adults (18 and over): ADHD or autism from $1,099; ADHD and autism together (AuDHD) from $1,499
  • Teens (12 to 17): ADHD or autism from $1,299; ADHD and autism together (AuDHD) from $1,599
  • Other diagnostic assessments: from $649
  • Pre-surgical psychological assessments: $200, or pay what you can

The starting price covers the core steps, from onboarding through your feedback session. Documentation, such as a diagnostic letter or a full report, and cognitive or IQ testing are optional and priced separately. We'll help you choose the right combination of steps during your free consultation.

Therapy sessions are $150 to $200 for individuals and $200 to $240 for couples and families, depending on the clinician. Each therapist's fee is listed in the Therapy section above.

Insurance and payment

We're out of network with all insurance plans. That keeps our caseloads small and lets us offer highly customized care. You don't need a referral to book with us. Ways to pay:

  • All major credit cards, plus FSA and HSA cards
  • Monthly superbills you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement
  • Thrizer, which automates out-of-network claims for qualifying plans
  • Interest-free payment plans through CareCredit, for those who qualify

It's worth checking your out-of-network benefits with your insurer before you start. Our assessments aren't covered by Medicare, and we don't handle prior authorizations. TennCare members are welcome to pay privately for assessments.

You have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of your care.

How soon you can start

We have immediate availability. Consultations can be scheduled right away, and most people start within a week.

Getting started

The first step is a free 15-minute phone consultation. It's a relaxed conversation about what's going on and what you're hoping for, and we'll help you figure out the right next step.

Not sure where to start? Our free online screeners for ADHD, autism and anxiety can help you put words to what you're noticing.

A few things we don't do

  • In-network insurance billing. We're out of network with all plans, but there are ways to use your benefits (see above).
  • Prescribing medication. Our psychologists don't prescribe. If you need a prescriber, we'll refer you to one of our trusted medication-management partners and coordinate with them.

If you're in crisis

ScienceWorks isn't an emergency service. If you're in danger or thinking about harming yourself, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. You can also call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
