HOW I-CBT WORKS
What I-CBT is, and how it works for relationship OCD
Relationship OCD (ROCD) keeps your attention locked on doubts about your partner or the relationship itself — “what if I don’t really love them?” or “what if they aren’t right for me?” Rather than trying to answer those doubts, inference-based cognitive behavioral therapy (I-CBT) looks at how they get built in the first place.
In ROCD, an imagined “what if” gets trusted over the felt reality of your relationship, and every check or request for reassurance only sharpens the doubt. I-CBT helps you notice the exact point where imagination overrides experience, then return to what you actually know — so the doubt stops running the show. Our clinicians keep the work affirming for neurodivergent clients and move at a pace that fits you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common questions
Is I-CBT for relationship OCD online or in person?
Relationship-OCD care is delivered by secure telehealth while you are in Tennessee, and in person at our Nashville office if you prefer. Most people join online from home or anywhere private and skip the commute; in-person in Nashville is available on request.
Does relationship OCD mean I should leave my relationship?
No. Relationship OCD is about the doubt process, not a verdict on your relationship. I-CBT works on how the doubt is built rather than answering it, so you can make decisions from your own values instead of from anxiety.
Is I-CBT the same as couples therapy or exposure work?
Neither. It isn't couples counseling, and it doesn't rely on exposure exercises. The focus is the faulty reasoning that makes a relationship doubt feel urgent, which is why people overwhelmed by exposure often prefer it.
